Slum Slam (work in progress)

In the most difficult days and nights of my life, it was the poetry I recognized inside and outside of myself that carried me to safety. So one day I thought that if poetry had caressed me, perhaps it could do the same to those who were even more starved for caresses than I was. I imagined a mouth that asked for charity, did sex for money, bit into a one-dollar-a-day life, becoming filled with poetry. I wanted to see the effect it would have upon me, on the world of viewers, but most of all on the owners of the mouths themselves.
